Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA)
Up to $15,000

You can get up to $15,000 of Minnesota education money, and use it for higher education, on-the-job training, apprenticeships, or licenses and certifications.

Apply online through the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs Programs and Services Document and Application Portal, creating an account if you are a new user. For help, contact a Higher Education Veterans Program regional coordinator.

What you'll need

Proof of Minnesota residency, your DD214 or current service documentation, and the enrollment, training or certification details for what you want to use the benefit on.

Eligibility

  • You are a Minnesota resident
  • You are currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, or are a veteran of an active or reserve component with an honorable discharge, or served five or more cumulative years in an active or reserve component with an honorable discharge and any part of that service was on or after September 11, 2001, or are the surviving spouse or child of a veteran who died while serving on active duty or has a total and permanent service-connected disability rating
