Minnesota National Guard Tuition Reimbursement Program (STR)

Minnesota National Guard
Up to $18,000 per fiscal year undergraduate and $28,000 graduate, with a 144 semester credit lifetime cap

The State Tuition Reimbursement program pays back up to 100 percent of your tuition at an accredited school while you serve in the Minnesota National Guard, covering associate, bachelor’s, master’s and professional degrees as well as certificate programs. Undergraduate reimbursement is up to 100 percent of the University of Minnesota resident undergraduate rate with a cap of $18,000 per fiscal year, running 1 July to 30 June, and graduate reimbursement is up to 75 percent of the University of Minnesota graduate rate with a cap of $28,000 per fiscal year. The lifetime maximum is 144 semester credits. If you are honorably discharged you may get an extension to use the benefit: two years plus the time you served if you served on federal active duty orders after September 11, 2001, or eight years if you were separated or discharged because of a service-connected injury, disease or disability.
