Minnesota Veteran Education Assistance

Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA)
One-time $750 tuition grant

You can get a one-time $750 grant toward tuition to help you finish a bachelor’s degree, if you have used up your GI Bill benefits. The grant is paid straight to your school, or reimbursed to you once your tuition is shown as paid.

How to apply

Download the MDVA Application for Minnesota Veteran Education Benefit and send it to the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs at the address on the form. A Higher Education Veterans Program regional coordinator can help.

What you'll need

The documentation listed on the application, including your DD214, proof of Minnesota residency, and proof that your VA education benefits are exhausted.

Eligibility

  • You have been living in Minnesota for 30 days and intend to stay, or you were a Minnesota resident immediately before you entered the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You completely used up your VA education benefits within the period they were available to you
  • You are studying at an eligible Minnesota institution toward a bachelor’s degree
