How to apply

File a Mississippi Nonresident/Part-Year Resident Individual Income Tax Return claiming the exemption, attach a copy of your dependent ID card, and complete a State of Legal Residence Certificate (DD Form 2058).

What you'll need

A copy of your military dependent ID card, a completed State of Legal Residence Certificate, and your service member spouse’s orders assigning them to Mississippi.

Eligibility

  • You currently live in Mississippi
  • You live in Mississippi only to be with your service member spouse, who is in Mississippi under military orders
  • You and your service member spouse have the same state of residence
