Mississippi Scholarship for Children of Prisoners of War or Missing in Action

Mississippi public colleges and universities, with Mississippi Veterans Affairs
Eight semesters of tuition at a Mississippi state-supported college or university (books, food, supplies, and extracurricular fees are not covered)

If your parent’s official home of record and residence is Mississippi and that parent is officially a prisoner of war or missing in action, you can receive an eight-semester scholarship at any Mississippi state-supported college or university. Tuition is covered. You still pay for books, food, school supplies, and extracurricular dues or fees.

How to apply

Contact Mississippi Veterans Affairs or the admissions and financial-aid office at the Mississippi public college or university you will attend. Ask them to apply the POW/MIA children’s scholarship under Miss. Code Ann. § 37-108-1.

What you'll need

Proof that the service member’s home of record and residence is Mississippi, and official documentation that the service member is a prisoner of war or missing in action.

Eligibility

  • You are the child of a member of the armed services whose official home of record and residence is Mississippi
  • Your parent is officially reported as a prisoner of war or missing in action
