Skilled long-term care at five state homes

Mississippi runs five state veterans homes providing skilled long-term care for veterans and their spouses: the Brigadier General Martha Jo Leslie home in Kosciusko, the home in Oxford, the General Hilton R. "Jack" Vance home in Jackson, the home in Collins, and the home at Tradition in Biloxi.

Complete the application packet for the home you want and submit it to that home. Kosciusko, Oxford, Jackson and Collins share one packet, and Tradition in Biloxi has its own.

What you'll need

Your DD214 or equivalent, and a physician’s medical examination completed within 30 days of admission.

Eligibility

  • You are a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces and was discharged under conditions other than dishonorable and can provide a DD214 or equivalent, or you are the spouse of a veteran who is currently a resident of a Mississippi State Veterans Home
  • You have a physician’s medical examination within 30 days of admission
  • You do not have a communicable disease, do not need care the home cannot provide, and do not have behavior that may be dangerous to yourself, other residents or employees
