Mississippi awards an honor medal recognizing veterans for their service in the U.S. Armed Forces. Only one medal can be awarded per veteran, and there is a $17 fee.

How to apply

Mail a completed Mississippi Veterans Honor Medal application, a copy of the veteran’s DD214 and a $17 fee to Mississippi Veterans Affairs, Attn: Honor Medal Administrator, 660 North Street, Suite 200, Jackson, MS 39202. A family member can apply on the veteran’s behalf.

What you'll need

The completed application, a copy of the veteran’s DD214, and a $17 fee.

Eligibility

You are a current Mississippi resident, were a Mississippi resident when you entered the U.S. Armed Forces, or were a Mississippi resident at the time of death
You served in an active or reserve component of the U.S. Armed Forces
You received an honorable discharge
You have not already been awarded the medal
