The Missouri Attorney General's DEFENDERS program gives you free legal assistance for certain matters and helps you find and keep affordable, qualified counsel. It refers you to attorneys who represent claims under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act and the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, fights predatory business practices aimed at military communities, runs educational presentations on military consumer protection and civil legal protections, represents Missouri National Guard members with employment claims arising from state active duty, and runs estate planning workshops for veterans.

What you'll need

Your military ID or orders showing your status and duty station, and the documents relating to your legal issue.

Eligibility

  • You are an active or reserve component service member stationed in Missouri, or a Missouri resident service member stationed outside Missouri whose legal issue falls in a Missouri court, jurisdiction or venue
  • You are not a member of the Individual Ready Reserve
