Military funeral honors at no cost to the family

A military funeral honors ceremony pays final respect for service to the nation. At a minimum it includes folding and presentation of the American flag and the sounding of Taps. Honors may be rendered by Missouri National Guard members, active duty service members, retired service members or veterans service organizations, at no cost to the family.

Ask the funeral home to request military funeral honors; they make the arrangements.

What you'll need

The deceased service member's DD214 or other discharge paperwork, and the death certificate.

Eligibility

  • You are arranging the funeral of a deceased active or reserve component service member, retired service member, or honorably discharged veteran
  • You request the honors through the funeral home
