Missouri Returning Heroes Act Tuition Rate for Combat Veterans

Missouri public colleges and universities, overseen by the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development
$50 per credit hour for undergraduate courses; 30 percent of tuition and fees for graduate courses

Missouri public colleges and universities can only charge you $50 per credit hour for an undergraduate degree if you are a combat veteran, and 30 percent of the normal cost of tuition and fees if you are a graduate student.

Contact the financial aid office at the Missouri public institution you attend or plan to attend, or call the Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development at 800-473-6757, option 4.

What you'll need

Your DD214 showing at least 30 consecutive days of active duty service in a designated combat zone after September 11, 2001 and an honorable discharge, and proof you are a Missouri resident or eligible to vote in Missouri.

Eligibility

  • You served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces in an area designated as a combat zone after September 11, 2001 for at least 30 consecutive days
  • You are eligible to vote or to register to vote in Missouri, or you are a current Missouri resident
  • You received an honorable discharge
  • You are enrolled in a certificate, undergraduate or graduate degree-seeking program at a Missouri public institution
