Missouri Vehicle Titling, Inspection and Sales Tax Extensions for Service Members

Missouri Department of Revenue, Motor Vehicle and Driver Licensing Division
Inspection deferred until 10 days after return, 180 days before a title penalty, and 180 days to preserve the sales tax allowance

You can authorize someone else to sign a General Affidavit stating your vehicle is out of state and will be inspected within 10 days of your return to Missouri. You also have 180 days after discharge before a title penalty is charged on a motor vehicle, trailer, boat, outboard motor, all-terrain vehicle or manufactured home you buy. If you sell a vehicle while on active duty and deploy before you can buy a replacement, you get 180 days after you return from the deployment to buy one and still receive the sales tax allowance.
