Missouri War Medallion Program

Missouri Office of the Adjutant General, Veterans Awards
Commemorative war medallion

Missouri awards medallions to service members and veterans who served during certain wartime periods: World War II from December 7, 1941 through December 31, 1946; D-Day Jubilee of Liberty from June 6, 1944 through September 30, 1944; the Korean War from June 27, 1950 through January 31, 1955; the Vietnam War from February 28, 1961 through May 7, 1975; Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm from August 7, 1990 through June 7, 1991; and Operations Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn from March 19, 2003 through December 15, 2011. You did not have to serve overseas to qualify.

How to apply

Mail or fax the completed war medallion application with your proof of eligibility to the Office of the Adjutant General, ATTN: Veterans Awards, PO Box 1808, Jefferson City MO 65102, fax 573-638-9566. For help, call 573-638-9561 or 866-834-3431.

What you'll need

Official documentation of your eligibility, such as your DD214 or other discharge paperwork.

Eligibility

  • You served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces during one of the listed conflict date ranges
  • You are a legal Missouri resident now, you were a Missouri resident when you entered or were discharged from active duty, you served in a unit of the Missouri National Guard regardless of your state of residence, or the veteran you are applying for was a Missouri resident at the time of death
  • You received an honorable discharge, or you are still serving
