Affordable long-term care at three state homes, with reduced costs for eligible veterans

Montana runs three veterans homes offering affordable long-term care to aged and disabled veterans and their eligible spouses: the Montana Veterans’ Home in Columbia Falls with 117 beds, the Eastern Montana Veterans’ Home in Glendive with 80 beds, and the Southwest Montana Veterans’ Home in Butte with 60 beds. They provide reduced costs for eligible veterans, physical, occupational and speech therapy, nursing and domiciliary assisted living units, memory care, and programs and activities for veterans.

What you'll need

Your DD214 showing an honorable discharge, a medical assessment showing you need intermediate nursing or domiciliary care, and a marriage certificate if you are applying as a spouse.

Eligibility

You are an honorably discharged veteran, or the spouse or surviving spouse of one
You are 55 or older, or you are younger than 55 and are an invalid or unable to earn a living
You meet the medical requirements for intermediate nursing care or domiciliary care
You do not have a mental condition that would put other residents or staff at risk
