Veteran Designation on Montana Driver Licenses and ID Cards

No extra cost for the designation

You can have a veteran designation printed on your Montana driver license or ID card. There is no extra charge for the designation itself, though the standard renewal or replacement fee still applies.

How to apply

Ask for the designation at a Montana Driver License Exam Station, or mail the Motor Vehicle Division application to add a veteran designation, your proof and the fee to Montana Motor Vehicle Division, P.O. Box 201430, Helena MT 59620-1430.

What you'll need

One of these: a certified copy of your DD214 showing an honorable discharge, your VA healthcare card, your retired military ID card, or documentation from the Montana Veterans Affairs Division confirming veteran status.

Eligibility

  • You received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You hold or are applying for a Montana driver license or ID card
  • You can provide a certified DD214, a VA healthcare card, a retired military ID card, or documentation from the Montana Veterans Affairs Division
