One motor vehicle that you own and use for your own transportation is exempt from Nebraska motor vehicle tax if you are a disabled or blind veteran.

Apply through the county treasurer where you live, not the state. The Nebraska DMV publishes a county treasurer directory.

What you'll need

Your DD214 showing an honorable or general (under honorable conditions) discharge, and medical or VA documentation of the loss or loss of use of two or more extremities, or of your blindness.

Eligibility

  • You are a Nebraska resident who owns the vehicle and uses it for personal transportation
  • You received an honorable or general (under honorable conditions) discharge
  • You have lost, or lost the use of, two or more extremities, or your sight is so impaired that it seriously limits your ability to do ordinary activities
