Nebraska Gold Star Family License Plate

Distinctive Gold Star Family plate

Family members of a service member who died while serving on active duty can get a Nebraska Gold Star Family plate. Eligible family includes the surviving spouse whether or not they have remarried, an ancestor including a stepparent, a descendant including a stepchild, a foster parent or person in loco parentis, and a sibling.

How to apply

Register on the NDVA Military and Veterans' Registry, then submit the DMV Application for Gold Star Family License Plates with your casualty documentation and proof of your relationship.

What you'll need

The service member's casualty documentation or death certificate, and proof of your relationship to them such as a marriage or birth certificate.

Eligibility

  • You own or lease a vehicle registered in Nebraska
  • Your service member died while serving on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You are their surviving spouse whether or not you have remarried, an ancestor or stepparent, a descendant or stepchild, a foster parent or person in loco parentis, or a sibling
