The Nebraska Voluntary Veterans Preference Act lets a private employer adopt a veteran hiring preference policy and list its job openings on the Nebraska Department of Labor’s Voluntary Veterans Preference Registry.

There is nothing to apply for with the state. Look for employers on the Nebraska Department of Labor’s Voluntary Veterans Preference Registry, and tell an employer you are a veteran when you apply.

Your DD214, if the employer asks for proof of service.
