As a Nebraska state employee serving in the National Guard or Reserves you get paid military leave with no loss of pay. If you are scheduled to work 159 hours or more in three consecutive weeks on 24-hour shifts you get 168 hours of military leave each calendar year; 120 to just under 159 hours gets you 120 hours of leave; under 120 hours gets you leave equal to the hours you normally work or would normally be scheduled to work, whichever is greater. If a state of emergency lasts more than 15 work days you also get a state of emergency leave of absence until you are released from active duty, paid at your normal salary minus your active duty base pay.
Give your agency’s human resources office a copy of your official military orders and request military leave.
Your official orders for training or active duty, and your normal work schedule so the leave hours can be calculated.
