Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Alliance

Burial, committal service, memorial garden and headstone at no charge

You and your eligible family members can be buried at the state veterans cemetery in Alliance at no charge. It has a committal shelter for casket-side services, a memorial garden for spreading cremated remains, and an upright headstone for every grave.

How to apply

Submit an NVCA Eligibility Determination Request before there is a need. If a family has an immediate need and no determination has been made, submit an NVCA Request for Interment instead. Mail either to Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Alliance, 2610 CR 57, PO Box 718, Alliance NE 69301, deliver it in person to the administration building at 2610 County Road 57, or call 308-763-2958 or 877-420-7990.

What you'll need

The veteran's discharge papers (DD214), the marriage license for a spouse, birth certificates for dependent children, and the veteran's death certificate if applicable.

Eligibility

  • You were discharged from active duty under conditions other than dishonorable, died while serving on active duty, served at least 20 years in the National Guard or Reserves and are eligible for military retired pay or would have been but for death before age 60, or were a reserve component member activated for federal service
  • Your spouse and dependents qualify through you, with dependent children limited to unmarried children under 21, under 23 if a full-time student at an approved school, or a child who developed a lifelong disability before age 21
