Nebraska Waiver of Tuition Program

Nebraska Department of Veterans' Affairs (NDVA)
100% of tuition and tuition-related fees waived

Nebraska waives 100% of tuition and tuition-related fees at a University of Nebraska campus, a Nebraska State College or a Nebraska Community College for the spouse, surviving spouse or child of certain veterans. You can use it for one degree, diploma or certificate from a community college and one bachelor's degree from a state college or university. It does not cover housing, food, parking, books or course materials.

How to apply

Complete the NDVA Application for Waiver of Tuition, have your school complete Part VI, and send it with your supporting documents to the Nebraska Department of Veterans' Affairs, Attn: Waiver of Tuition, PO Box 95083, Lincoln NE 68509. You can also fax it to 402-742-1142, email it to ndva@nebraska.gov with the subject Waiver of Tuition, or upload it through the NDVA confidential document upload page.

What you'll need

The veteran's DD214 and VA rating or casualty documentation, proof of your relationship to the veteran such as a marriage or birth certificate, proof that you meet Nebraska residency requirements for in-state tuition, and Part VI of the application completed by your school.

Eligibility

  • You are the spouse, surviving spouse, biological child, adopted child or stepchild of an eligible veteran
  • The veteran has a total and permanent service-connected disability, died from a service-connected disability, died after discharge as a result of an injury or illness sustained during service, or was declared missing in action or a prisoner of war
  • You meet Nebraska residency requirements for in-state tuition
  • You are attending a University of Nebraska campus, a Nebraska State College or a Nebraska Community College
