Nevada Gold Star Family License Plate

Immediate family members of a service member killed in the line of duty on active duty can get this plate for an initial fee of $8.50, with no annual renewal fee, and the vehicle is exempt from Nevada state and local parking fees. Eligible family are the surviving spouse, a parent or stepparent, a grandparent, a child or stepchild, and a dependent sibling, half-sibling or stepsibling.

How to apply

Submit a completed Gold Star License Plate Application in person at a Nevada DMV office with a copy of the service member’s DD1300 Report of Casualty. If you are not named on the DD1300, bring proof of your relationship such as a birth certificate or adoption papers, or ask a Nevada Department of Veterans Services veterans service officer for a written decision.

A completed Nevada DMV Gold Star License Plate Application, a copy of the DD1300 Report of Casualty, and proof of your relationship if you are not named on the DD1300.

Eligibility

  • You are a Nevada resident
  • You are the surviving spouse, parent, stepparent, grandparent, child, stepchild, or dependent sibling, half-sibling or stepsibling of a service member killed in the line of duty while serving on active duty
  • You can provide the service member’s DD1300 Report of Casualty, or other proof of your relationship if you are not named on it
