If you are a nonresident service member stationed in Nevada and you choose to register your vehicle in Nevada, you and your spouse are exempt from the Nevada governmental services taxes on it.

How to apply

Submit the affidavit that matches your registration, with the documents listed on it, when you register or renew the vehicle. Use the nonresident active duty military affidavit if both you and your spouse are on the registration, and the nonresident military spouse affidavit if only the spouse is named.

What you'll need

The completed exemption affidavit, your orders showing you are stationed in Nevada, and the other documents listed on the affidavit.

Eligibility

  • You are a nonresident active duty service member stationed in Nevada, or the spouse of one
  • You are registering or renewing a Nevada vehicle registration
  • You submit the exemption affidavit that matches whose names are on the registration
