Skilled nursing, memory care and rehabilitation at two state homes

Nevada runs two state veterans homes offering short and long term skilled nursing, memory care and rehabilitation. The Southern Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City takes 180 residents and provides skilled nursing plus Alzheimer’s and dementia care. The Northern Nevada State Veterans Home in Sparks has 96 beds for short term, long term and memory care, with private rooms, shared den, living room and kitchen for every 16 residents, and a coffee bistro, sports bar, therapy gym, beauty and barber shop and commissary store.

What you'll need

Your DD214 or other discharge paperwork, and a marriage certificate or casualty documentation if you are applying as a spouse, surviving spouse or Gold Star parent. The Northern Nevada home publishes an admission frequently asked questions sheet listing what it needs.

Eligibility

  • You served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces and received an honorable discharge, or you are the spouse or surviving spouse of an eligible veteran, or you are a Gold Star parent of a service member who died while serving
