Nevada courts can appoint a financial guardian for a veteran, or for anyone receiving VA benefits based on a veteran’s service, who cannot manage their own financial affairs.

How to apply

Petition the district court in the Nevada county where the person lives to have a guardian appointed. A Nevada Department of Veterans Services veterans service officer can point you to help.

What you'll need

Medical documentation that the person cannot manage their financial affairs, their VA benefit information, and proof of your relationship to them.

Eligibility

  • You are a veteran, or you receive VA benefits based on a veteran’s service in the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You are unable to manage your own financial affairs
  • A petition for guardianship is filed with the Nevada court
