Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemeteries

No cost burial for a veteran; $450 for a spouse or dependent

Nevada has two veterans cemeteries, the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley and the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City. There is no charge for a veteran’s plot, vault, opening and closing of the gravesite, or headstone. Burial of a veteran’s spouse or dependent costs $450. Your family can also ask for military funeral honors through the funeral director.

How to apply

Pre-register to establish eligibility before there is a need. The online pre-registration form for both cemeteries is at the bottom of the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery page. Phone 775-575-4441 for Fernley or 702-486-5920 for Boulder City.

What you'll need

The veteran’s DD214 or other discharge paperwork, and a marriage certificate or proof of dependency for family members.

Eligibility

  • You were discharged from active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces under conditions other than dishonorable, died while serving on active duty, served at least 20 years in the National Guard or Reserves and are eligible for military retired pay, or were a reserve component member activated for federal service
  • Your spouse and children qualify through you, with dependent children limited to unmarried children under 21, under 23 if a full-time student at an approved school, or a child who developed a lifelong disability before age 21
