Nevada Wartime Veteran’s Property Tax Exemption

If you served during a wartime period, Nevada takes $3,440 of assessed value off your tax bill each year for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. You choose whether to apply it to your real property taxes or to your vehicle privilege tax.

How to apply

Apply through the county assessor where you live, not the state. Links to every Nevada county assessor are at the bottom of the state exemption page, and the Nevada Department of Taxation publishes a veteran exemption frequently asked questions page.

What you'll need

Your DD214 or other discharge paperwork showing at least 90 continuous days of active duty, an honorable discharge, and service dates falling in one of the qualifying periods, plus proof you live in Nevada.

Eligibility

  • You live in Nevada
  • You served at least 90 continuous days on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You received an honorable discharge
  • You served at least one day between December 7, 1941 and December 31, 1946, between June 25, 1950 and May 7, 1975, between September 26, 1982 and December 1, 1987, between December 20, 1989 and January 31, 1990, between August 2, 1990 and April 11, 1991, between December 5, 1992 and March 31, 1994, between November 20, 1995 and December 20, 1996, or during a period for which a campaign or expeditionary medal was authorized
