You can take $50 off the property tax bill on your home if you served during a wartime period, and your city or town can vote to raise that credit to anywhere from $51 to $750. Your spouse or surviving spouse can claim it as well.
Apply through the tax collector or assessing office in the city or town where your home is, not the state, and ask which credit amount your municipality has adopted.
Your DD214 showing at least 90 days of wartime service and an honorable discharge, or discharge paperwork showing you were released because of a service-connected disability, plus proof you own and live in the home. A surviving spouse also needs a marriage certificate and the veteran's death certificate.
