You pay no vehicle registration fees in New Hampshire if you have a service-connected total and permanent disability rating, are totally blind from a service-connected cause, are a service-connected amputee or paraplegic who received federal funds for a specially adapted vehicle, or are an honorably discharged former prisoner of war.

How to apply

Claim the exemption when you register your vehicle, at a Division of Motor Vehicles office or at the town or city clerk that processes your registration.

What you'll need

Your VA rating letter, documentation of blindness, amputation or paraplegia and the federally funded adapted vehicle, or proof of former prisoner of war status, plus your DD214.

Eligibility

  • You are registering a vehicle in New Hampshire
  • You have a service-connected total and permanent disability rating from the VA, you are totally blind because of a service-connected cause, you are an amputee or paraplegic because of a service-connected cause and received federal funds for a specially adapted vehicle, or you are an honorably discharged former prisoner of war
