New Jersey Helmets to Hardhats Program

New Jersey Building and Construction Trades Council
No-cost apprenticeship preparation and placement help in 15 building trades

You can get help moving into a building and construction career through this program, which prepares veterans and transitioning service members for New Jersey registered apprenticeships. You get personal career counselling, interview coaching, entrance test preparation, a review of apprentice entrance requirements, guidance through the application process, and referral to supportive services. Trades covered include boilermakers, electrical workers, iron workers, painters, roofers, tile and bricklayers, elevator constructors, laborers, pipe trades, sheet metal workers, carpenters, insulation and asbestos workers, operating engineers, plasterers and cement masons, and teamsters.

Your DD214 showing an honorable discharge, or proof you are an active duty service member transitioning to civilian employment.

Eligibility

  • You are an honorably discharged veteran of an active or reserve component of the U.S. Armed Forces, or an active duty service member transitioning to civilian employment soon
  • You are seeking a career in the New Jersey building and construction industry
