If you are hurt, become ill or disabled, or die in the line of duty while serving on state active duty with the New Jersey National Guard, you or your survivors are covered by New Jersey workers compensation law.

How to apply

Report the injury or death through your chain of command and file a workers compensation claim. A New Jersey Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Service Officer can help you or your survivors with the paperwork.

What you'll need

Your state active duty orders, a line of duty determination, your medical records for the injury or illness, and a death certificate if you are filing as a survivor.

Eligibility

  • You are a New Jersey National Guard service member, or the survivor of one
  • You suffered an injury, disease, disability or death in the line of duty
  • You were serving on state active duty, not federal active duty, at the time
