New Jersey National Guard Tuition Waiver Program

New Jersey National Guard, with New Jersey public institutions of higher education
Tuition waived for up to 16 credits per semester at public institutions

Tuition is waived at New Jersey public colleges and universities for New Jersey National Guard members, and for the surviving spouse and children of a New Jersey National Guard member killed in the line of duty. You can take up to 16 credits per semester tuition free. The waiver pays after all other financial aid has been applied to your tuition, and it does not cover other expenses such as lab fees or books.

How to apply

Request a Form 621-2 from your unit. You also have to apply for any available state or federal financial aid each year, either through your school’s financial aid office or by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.

What you'll need

A Form 621-2 from your unit, proof you completed Initial Active Duty Training, proof of your good standing with your unit, your school acceptance or enrollment record, and a financial aid application for the year.

Eligibility

  • You are an active drilling New Jersey National Guard service member in good standing with your unit who has completed Initial Active Duty Training, or you are the surviving spouse or child of a New Jersey National Guard service member killed in the line of duty
  • You are accepted and in good standing in a course of undergraduate or graduate study
  • You apply for and use any available state or federal financial aid each year
