New Jersey Operation Recognition High School Diplomas for Wartime Veterans

New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DVA)
New Jersey high school diploma awarded

New Jersey will award you a state high school diploma if you left a New Jersey high school to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War I, World War II, or the Korean or Vietnam conflicts. Diplomas can also be awarded posthumously.

How to apply

Contact the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Veterans Benefits Bureau at 888-865-8387 or VBB@dva.nj.gov to request the diploma.

What you'll need

Your DD214 or other discharge paperwork showing service in one of the qualifying periods and an honorable discharge, proof you attended a New Jersey high school, and proof you are a current New Jersey resident.

Eligibility

  • You are a current New Jersey resident
  • You left a New Jersey high school to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces between April 6, 1917 and November 11, 1918, between September 16, 1940 and December 31, 1946, between June 23, 1950 and January 31, 1955, or between December 31, 1960 and May 7, 1975
  • You received an honorable discharge
