New Jersey State Employment Veterans Civil Service Preference

New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DVA), with the New Jersey Civil Service Commission
Absolute preference placing you at the top of open competitive employment lists

You get an absolute veterans preference when you apply for a New Jersey civil service job. If you qualify and pass the exam, you go to the top of the open competitive employment list ahead of non-veterans no matter what the scores are. Disabled veterans get the highest preference and are placed above both other veterans and non-veterans.
