You can have a veteran designation printed on your New Jersey driver licence or non-driver ID card as proof of military service.

How to apply

Visit a New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission licensing centre for an initial issue or a renewal, and ask for the veteran designation. A replacement licence can be requested at an MVC office or by mail.

What you'll need

Six Points of ID, proof of address, a completed driver licence or non-driver ID renewal application, and an original or photocopy of proof of an honorable or general under honorable conditions discharge: a DD214 or DD215, a New Jersey county-issued Veteran ID card, federal activation orders showing Title 10 service, or a pre-1950 Report of Separation of Active Duty.

Eligibility

  • You are applying for or renewing a New Jersey driver licence or non-driver ID card
  • You received an honorable discharge, or a general discharge under honorable conditions, from the U.S. Armed Forces
  • You can provide one of the accepted proofs of discharge
