New Mexico Children of Deceased Veterans Scholarship

New Mexico Department of Veterans' Services (NMDVS)
Matricular fees, room and board, books and supplies, plus a $300 yearly stipend

This scholarship pays matricular fees, room and board, and books and supplies at a New Mexico state-funded higher education institution for the child of a service member killed during a period of armed conflict, plus a $300 stipend each year for other expenses. Children of New Mexico National Guard members killed on state active duty also qualify.

How to apply

Mail the NMDVS Application for Scholarship for Children of Deceased Military Personnel with the service member’s discharge documents and death certificate to the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services, 407 Galisteo Street Rm 134, Santa Fe NM 87501, Attn: State Benefits.

What you'll need

The service member’s discharge documents and death certificate, and proof that you are enrolled at a state-supported school.

Eligibility

  • You are between 16 and 26 years old
  • You are enrolled at a New Mexico state-supported school
  • You are the child of a service member who was a New Mexico resident when they entered the U.S. Armed Forces and was killed in action or as a result of that action during a period of armed conflict, or the child of a New Mexico National Guard service member killed while serving on state active duty
