New Mexico state-funded higher education institutions, with the New Mexico Higher Education Department
Legislative Lottery Scholarship eligibility preserved through your military service

If you joined the U.S. Armed Forces after graduating from a New Mexico high school, you can still establish eligibility for the New Mexico Legislative Lottery Scholarship after you are discharged or retire. You have to enroll in a baccalaureate program at a New Mexico state-funded school in the first regular semester after your discharge.

How to apply

Enroll at a New Mexico state-funded higher education institution in the first regular semester after your discharge and ask its financial aid office to apply the Legislative Lottery Scholarship extension.

What you'll need

Your DD214 showing your discharge date, and proof that you graduated from a New Mexico high school.

Eligibility

  • You graduated from a New Mexico high school
  • You entered the U.S. Armed Forces after graduating
  • You enroll in a baccalaureate program at a New Mexico state-funded higher education institution in the first regular semester after your discharge or retirement
