A certified veteran-owned business gets a bidding preference worth 10 percent of the total weight of all factors used to evaluate proposals, or the equivalent of 10 percent of total points when a state contract is scored on points. You have to get certified by the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department first, and the certificate lasts three years. A new application costs $35.
Apply online through the New Mexico In-state Preference Business/Contractor Certificate Validation Application, or mail the Taxation and Revenue Department application to PO Box 5374, Santa Fe NM 87502-5374.
