New York resident service members can get hunting, fishing and trapping licences free of charge. This covers active duty members stationed outside New York who are home on leave for 30 days or less, and members of the New York National Guard or U.S. Armed Forces Reserves who are stationed in or living in New York.
Apply online through the Department of Environmental Conservation online licensing system, or in person at any DEC licence issuing agent.
Your military ID card, a completed DEC Certification of Military Active Service, your leave paperwork showing a duty station outside New York and leave of 30 days or less if you are on active duty, and your Hunter Education Program certificate if one is required for the licence.
