Eligible family members of a service member who died in the line of duty receive a semi-annual payment from New York, paid each March and September. Remarriage does not affect a surviving spouse’s or domestic partner’s eligibility.

The completed application, evidence of the deceased service member’s military service such as a DD1300 report of casualty or the Department of Defense telegram confirming the death, and proof of New York residency such as a property tax bill, utility bill, voter registration, pay stub or current New York driver licence.
