New York resident veterans with a service-connected disability rating of 40 percent or more pay $5 for a fishing, hunting and trapping licence, get bow hunting and muzzle loading privileges free with a base hunting licence, and get preference in the Deer Management Permit selection.
Apply in person the first time at a Department of Environmental Conservation licence issuing agent. After you are in the system you can buy licences through the DEC online licensing system, by calling 866-933-2257 Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or at a licence issuing agent.
A copy of your VA Benefit Summary Letter clearly stating that you have a service-connected disability, and proof that you are a New York resident.
