New York Restoration of Honor

New York State Department of Veterans’ Services (DVS)
Access to New York State veterans benefits restored

If you received an Other Than Honorable discharge, or a General discharge under honorable conditions, because of post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, military sexual trauma, sexual orientation or gender identity, the state can restore your access to New York veterans benefits. The determination applies only to your eligibility for New York State benefits and does not change the character of discharge on your discharge paperwork.
