New York State Cold War Certificate

New York State Division of Military and Naval Affairs
A state Cold War recognition certificate, one per eligible veteran

Veterans who served during the Cold War can be awarded a New York Cold War Certificate. It can be awarded posthumously to a designated survivor of a deceased veteran, and only one certificate is awarded per eligible veteran.

How to apply

Send a completed application with your Veterans Report of Separation to ng.ny.nyarng.list.mnp-awards@army.mil, or by mail to Division of Military and Naval Affairs, ATTN: MNP-AWD, 330 Old Niskayuna Road, Latham, NY 12110-3514. For help, call 518-786-0468. There is a separate version of the application for a primary next of kin applying posthumously.

What you'll need

The completed application and your Veterans Report of Separation, such as a WD AGO Form 53-55, DD214 or NGB Form 22.

Eligibility

  • You served in the U.S. Armed Forces during the Cold War between September 2, 1945 and December 6, 1991
  • You are a current New York State resident, or were a New York State resident at the time of your qualifying service
  • You received an honorable discharge, or a general discharge under honorable conditions
