You can take up to 12 weeks of paid family leave at 67 percent of your pay to deal with matters arising when your family member is serving on active duty in a foreign country or has been notified of an impending mobilization to one. Qualifying situations include short-notice deployment, military ceremonies and briefings, the service member’s rest, recuperation or counseling, post-deployment arrival ceremonies and reintegration events, making financial or legal arrangements, and arranging childcare for the service member’s child.
Request paid family leave through your employer. Your employer’s insurance carrier receives and processes the request and makes the payments. For help, call the Paid Family Leave Helpline at 844-337-6303, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
A completed New York State Paid Family Leave application, and the service member’s active duty orders or mobilization notice.
