Eligible veterans get tuition awards up to State University of New York rates for full-time or part-time study in an approved undergraduate or graduate degree programme, or an approved vocational training programme in New York. Full time means 12 or more credits a semester or 24 or more hours a week of vocational training; part time means three to 11 credits or six to 23 hours. Awards run up to two years for a full-time associate degree, four for a bachelor’s, five for an approved five-year programme, three for a graduate degree and two for vocational training, with the part-time limits doubled. You can combine it with the Montgomery GI Bill but not with the Yellow Ribbon programme or the Post-9/11 GI Bill, and your combined tuition benefits cannot exceed your actual tuition.
