North Carolina Driver License Renewal for Service Members and Dependents

North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV)
Early renewal before deployment, or renewal by mail from outside the state

You can renew your North Carolina driver license up to a year early before you deploy. If you are a resident service member or dependent stationed outside North Carolina for more than 30 days you can renew by mail instead, though a mail renewal expires 60 days after you return to North Carolina and you can only renew by mail twice in your lifetime.
