State Pension for North Carolina National Guard Service Members

$105 a month at 20 years, rising $10.50 for each extra year to a maximum of $210 a month

North Carolina pays an extra pension of $105 a month for 20 years of creditable military service. Each year you serve beyond 20 adds $10.50 a month, up to a maximum of $210 a month.

Call the North Carolina National Guard Retirement Services Office on 984-664-7892 or email ng.nc.ncarng.mbx.g1-retirement@army.mil to start the pension.

What you'll need

Your retirement points statement showing creditable service, proof of at least 15 years in the North Carolina National Guard, and your honorable discharge paperwork.

Eligibility

  • You are at least 60 years old
  • You served at least 20 years of creditable service in an active or reserve component of the U.S. Armed Forces and are eligible for military retired pay
  • You served at least 15 of those creditable years in the North Carolina National Guard
  • You received an honorable discharge from the North Carolina National Guard
