State law lets private employers in North Carolina give hiring preference to veterans, and to spouses of veterans who have a total and permanent disability rating.

What you'll need

Your DD214, or your spouse’s VA rating letter if you are claiming as a spouse.

Eligibility

  • You are a veteran, or the spouse of a veteran with a total and permanent disability rating
  • You are applying to a North Carolina private employer that operates a veterans preference
