North Carolina Unemployment Insurance

North Carolina Department of Commerce, Division of Employment Security
Partial, short-term wage replacement

You can claim temporary income if you lose your job through no fault of your own. It replaces part of your lost wages while you look for other work, is not based on financial need, and is paid for entirely by employers.

How to apply

What you'll need

Your Social Security number, your Alien number and expiration date if you are not a citizen, two years of work history with employer details, total wages, employment dates and pay rate, the reason your employment ended, any separation pay or retirement income, and your bank routing and account numbers. Add an SF50, SF8, pay stub or W-2 for federal employment in the past two years, and your DD214 if you are a former service member; both can follow later if you do not have them yet.
