Every member of the North Dakota National Guard is covered for $1,000 of life insurance at no cost, and you can buy up to $1,000,000 of cover through a combination of voluntary group plans. Cover is available for your spouse and children, runs 24 hours a day all year, and has no war or aviation exclusion. Your rates do not go up when you separate from the Guard and you can keep the cover. New recruits get $10,000 of cover free for their first year of service if they enroll within 180 days of joining.
