25 percent tuition waiver plus a grant for the remaining 75 percent, up to 144 semester or 208 quarter credit hours

Serving in the North Dakota National Guard gets your tuition at state supported schools covered: a 25 percent waiver of tuition charges plus a grant for the remaining 75 percent. You can use it for certificate courses and undergraduate and graduate degrees, up to a lifetime total of 144 semester or 208 quarter credit hours. All of your tuition assistance together, including federal and VA tuition assistance, cannot add up to more than 100 percent of tuition. Recent legislation also lets you use the grant at out of state schools.

Submit the North Dakota State Tuition Assistance Request online application before your term starts. For questions, including using the grant out of state, call 701-333-3008.

What you'll need

Your North Dakota National Guard membership information, your school and course enrollment details, and the tuition charges for the term.

Eligibility

  • You are serving in good standing in the North Dakota National Guard
  • You have service remaining throughout the semester or term you are requesting tuition assistance for
  • You are not flagged for adverse action
  • You have no more than nine unexcused absences in the previous 12 months
  • You complete undergraduate courses with a grade of C or higher, or graduate courses with a grade of B or higher
